The first offsite RYES meeting in Georgia

Dear colleagues!

On October 27, 2016, a RYES field meeting was held in Tbilisi.

The meeting was held at the endocrinological clinic “Enmedic”.

The conference was opened by “Cortex” clinic director, Professor Lali Dzhavashvili, and chief endocrinologist of Georgia, Professor David Metreveli.

Welcome speech on behalf of the Georgian Association of Young Endocrinologists was given by the Chairperson Meri Rekvava.

The theme of the meeting was quite extensive and covered thyroidology, obesity and metabolism, reproductive endocrinology, neuroendocrinology, diabetes and its complications, as well as experimental endocrinology.

During the meeting, 13 presentations were made, including 5 reports from Endocrinology Research Centre (Moscow), 2 reports from Moscow Regional Research and Clinical Institute (Moscow), 1 report from Federal Almazov North-West Medical Research Centre (St. Petersburg) and 5 reports from Cortex and Enmedic clinics (Tbilisi).

The keen interest and debate were caused by the Experimental Endocrinology Section, and the report by Aleksandra Glazunova “The effects of combined kidney and pancreas transplantation on the dynamics of late complications in patients with type 1 diabetes”.

Following the meeting, it was decided to develop and strengthen cooperation between the two countries, both in the research field and in the practical medicine.

On behalf of RYES, we would like to express gratitude to the local organizing committee for cooperation, flawless organization and their interest. We sincerely hope that this meeting will mark the beginning of a long and strong relationship.

The next RYES offsite meeting will be held in October 2017 in Yerevan!
